Program Curriculum

We provide a strong curriculum, evidence-based medicine aligned with ACGME Program requirements. Our residents rotate through General Internal Medicine wards, ICU, CVICU, Emergency Medicine and all internal medicine subspecialities and electives. We also provide extra training in Addiction Medicine, Geriatrics and Hospice/Palliative care.

In addition, during the 2023 academic year, we introduced the new POCUS and SIM Lab. This allows our residents to simulate rapid responses, codes, intubations, central/arterial line placement etc. Additionally, we have medical students join us for internal medicine rotations.

Our 4+1 scheduling system alternates 4-week rotations with one-week ambulatory blocks, allowing for a Continuity Clinic experience uninterrupted with inpatient responsibilities and offers protected time for quality, research projects and didactics.

The program provides a second- and third-year board review courses.

Our strong curriculum is reflected by our 100% Board Pass rate for the Internal Medicine class of 2023! Many of our graduating residents have stayed with us to become faculty as hospitalists at HCA Brandon.
