William S. Cox, DO
Program Director
Dr. Cox has worked with the residency since its inception in 2008. In 2013, Dr. Cox took over as the internal medicine program director. He received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania and completed his internal medicine residency at New York Hospital Queens in Flushing, New York. Additionally, he is board certified by both AOBIM and ABIM.
Feras Ghosheh, MD
Assistant Program Director, Core Faculty
Dr. Ghosheh has worked with our residents since 2016. He is board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine. Dr. Ghosheh received his medical degree from Al-Quds University, completed a residency at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and attended fellowship training at the University of Kansas. Dr. Ghosheh works with our residents on the hospitalist service as well as the nephrology service. He has recently taken a leadership role as the scholarly activity champion.
Peter Recupero, DO
Designated Institutional Official
Dr. Peter Recupero has worked with the internal medicine residency since it began in 2008. In addition, he is the Transitional Year Residency Program director and works with our internal medicine residents as a hospitalist and preceptor at their continuity clinic. He received his medical degree at University of Health Science, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Recupero completed his internal medicine residency at University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut and his nephrology fellowship training at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.
Albert Tuono, DO
Hospital Medicine, Core Faculty
Dr. Tuono completed his internal medicine residency with our program in 2013 and subsequently joined as faculty after graduation. Initially, Dr. Tuono trained our residents in an outpatient clinic and joined our hospitalist group and core faculty in 2016. He received his medical degree from West Virginia School of Medicine.
Madiha Kamal, MD
Continuity Clinic Director, Core Faculty
Dr. Madiha Kamal has been involved with the LGHM internal medicine residency program since July 2013. She received her medical school training from Aga Khan University in Pakistan in 2006 and completed her internal medicine residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey in 2011.
Megan Thomas, DO
Continuity Clinic Associate Director, Core Faculty
Dr. Thomas has been on the faculty of our internal medicine residency since 2013. She graduated from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her internal medicine and pediatrics residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. Dr. Thomas precepts at the clinic on Tuesday and Thursday.
Lauren Sprague, MD
Nighttime Hospitalist, Core Faculty
Dr. Sprague has been on the faculty of our internal medicine residency program since 2025. She received her medical degree from Trinity School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency with our program in 2024. Dr. Sprague is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
Traci Carson, PhD, MPH
Division Director of Research
Dr. Carson is a non-clinical faculty member who leads our residents through the process of research projects. She serves as valuable resource to residents who are working on any type of research, whether that is a case presentation, quality project, or a full-blown research project.
