HCA Florida Largo Hospital, a 455-bed acute care hospital with two campuses and a free-standing Emergency Department. We are recognized for our excellent care, cutting-edge technology, modern facilities and outstanding medical staff. The hospital offers a number of specialty services including advanced cardiac care, from minimally invasive heart procedures to heart transplantation, complex GI services, kidney and liver transplantation, weight loss surgery, advanced stroke care, robotic surgery, and many other services.

The Hospital has been recognized by the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) as a Statutory Teaching facility, only one of 23 locations in the state. HCA Florida Largo Hospital is also a member of the HCA Florida Healthcare/USF Morsani College of Medicine GME – South Tampa consortium for Graduate Medical Education. It is this foundation upon which we build an innovative and dynamic teaching programs unmatched anywhere in the southeastern United States that is competitive with any program in the country.

Statutory teaching hospital

HCA Florida Largo Hospital is a designated Statutory Teaching Hospital by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). This designation means that HCA Florida Largo Hospital provides clinical education and training to future and current doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals in addition to delivering medical care to patients. Most teaching hospitals are affiliated with medical schools or universities.

Patients benefit from teaching hospitals because the academic environment encourages physicians to seek innovative solutions to patients' problems. Attending physicians must stay on top of the latest medical developments in order to teach medical students, residents, fellows, student nurses and allied health professionals. HCA Florida Largo Hospital has a comprehensive graduate medical education department. Currently there are 10 graduate medical education programs, including Dermatology, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, Psychiatry, and Transitional Year residency programs; and Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonary Critical Care and Rheumatology fellowship programs.
